While the primary focus is in fact on academics — and any Roadside parent would put its academic program against any in this area— its moral mission is what stands out most prominently… I would describe Mr. Thorpe’s success as being more revolutionary than anything else. Ironically, his revolution has centered around retrieving the best ideals and methods of the past... Dusting off time-honored traditions, attitudes, and expectations, Mr. Thorpe has created an ideal and perfectly balanced environment for children."

"Our town was recently rated the second best small town in Connecticut largely due to the excellent elementary school. Both of our children received excellent report cards… [but] they were not learning the basic skills…[We] came to the realization that the ... system was failing our children academically and was also failing to reinforce the social skills and moral education our children received at home... There is no comparison between what is considered to be an excellent public elementary school system and a school like Roadside Academy… It is worth every cent and all the extra effort it takes to send our children to this school."
